A car has more amps and can produce too high of voltage for jump starting a jet ski which in turn can fry the electronics. Always try and charge your battery to start your ski. In most cases it is 12v battery, so make sure when you replace it or charge it that you get a 12v charger with no more than 2amps, anything above 2 amps will be fast charging which is bad for the battery and not safe. It gives only one click if it goes bad. When a battery just sits it goes bad by sulfating.

Sulfating is when the plates on the battery build up and cause it to lose charge over time. The same thing would happen to your car if you only drove it a couple times a year, but happens faster for a Jet Ski because its battery is smaller. If so, just a few seconds of running dry will damage the water pump. From an electrical perspective, unless there is something wrong, your battery should hold a good charge for at least two weeks or longer , there should be no need to charge the batteries between runs.
