Every game moving forward has been compared to "Souls" titles as a measurement of how challenging the game is. Demon's Souls itself was recently given a full-blown remake as a launch title on the PlayStation 5, introducing a new generation of players to the title that started it all.
Here's how players can defeat the tutorial boss, Vanguard. For starters, Vanguard is designed to defeat the player within a few hits. Losing to this boss will continue the game as normal. Although, players do have the option to defeat the boss if they are skilled enough. Upon defeating it, the player will be rewarded with a few hundred souls and a Grey Demon's Soul.
As the player reaches the end of this area, they'll come face to face with one of Demon's Souls later bosses, the Dragon God. Unfourtently, players won't have the chance to take down another boss early on, as a cutscene plays once the player gets too close. The cutscene shows the towering Dragon God noticing the player and quickly disposing of them with a swift punch from a fist bigger than the player themselves. The player brutally skids over the ground, their skull eventually bursting with blood.
Needless to say, the player is quickly killed by the Dragon God, and the game progresses as normal, with the player being resurrected at the Nexus.
The player still fights the Dragon God later on in the game, with the Unknown Egress visible across the arena where the boss is fought. This left some players who had not played the original Demon's Souls wondering what exactly happens if a player kills the Vanguard in the original game. As players are just getting the hang of the controls and what their character can do, they're put face to face with a Vanguard Demon. This ugly beast is several times bigger than the player with a weapon that boasts the same largeness, and the fight is unbeatable.
After the Vanguard Demon kills the player, they are warped to the Nexus and given told what they'll be doing for the rest of their time with Demon's Souls. They are to use the Archstones to hunt down demons, claiming thier souls so that they might eventually regain their human form. Of course, with all unbeatable boss battles, the one thing players want to know is whether the fight actually can't be beat.
The developers of the remake have improved aspects of the original, but have also added a great deal of new content as well. Demon's Souls fans can expect a similar, but unique, journey when they jump into the remake. Although much more content has been added, some of the general mechanics and exploits have remained the same. The difficulty level, for instance, has remained pretty much the same. The original Demon's Souls allowed players to encounter and fight boss demons, but very many of these bosses had glaring weaknesses.
